How to limit your Health Source search results to "Nursing Journals"

Once you have typed your initial search concepts into a Health Source Advanced Search field, you can limit your search results to "nursing journals." This is achieved, as pictured below, by typing the term nurs* in one of the other Health Source Advanced Search Fields and using the Select a Field dropdown menu to select SO Publication Name. This search strategy will return results from publications (journals or magazines, etc.) that contain any one of the words nurse, nurses, or nursing in their titles.

To further limit your search, you may include any of the Search Options from the menus that appear below the Health Source Advanced Search fields. Recommended Search Options include the following:

  • Peer Reviewed or Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals – Limits search results to articles from peer-reviewed journals. Peer-reviewed journals are publications that include only those articles that have been reviewed and/or qualified by a selected panel of acknowledged experts in the field of study covered by the journal.

  • Date Published or Date of Publication – Use these options to search for articles within a specified date range. Create a range by using the drop-down lists to specify the months of the range and enter the last four digits of the year in the entry fields to specify the years of the range.
