How to limit your Science Direct search results to "Nursing Journals"

Once you have typed your search terms into a ScienceDirect Keywords field, you can limit your search results to "nursing journals." This is achieved, as pictured in the example below, by first typing your main search word(s) in the "Keywords" field. Second, type a word or words in the "Journal/Book Title" field to limit your search to publications that contain the word(s) within their titles. For example, type one of the following words in the field: nursing, or nurse, or nurses. Entering different forms of the word nurse in the "Journal/Book Title" field will change your search results.

You can limit your search further while viewing your search results. This additional limiting can be achieved by using any of the "Refine by" options that appear on the left side of a ScienceDirect search results page. See image below.

Recommended "Refine by" options include the following:

  • Subscribed journals: This option limits your search results to articles, etc. that are part of SUNY Erie's ScienceDirect subscription. Use this option if you think you are finding too many results that are not available in full text.
  • Years: This option allows you to limit your search results to selected publication years or a range of publication years.
