Demonstration Teaching (DT) is the culminating experience in the teacher preparation program and is an opportunity to apply knowledge, skills, and professional dispositions. It is a 12-week, full-time, face-to-face clinical experience (with additional weeks required in some states) completed through two consecutive 6-week courses: EDUC 4072/6072 and EDUC 4073/6073. Aligned with the Elementary Education licensure area, DT provides structured, hands-on experience in K–6th grade settings, where candidates work with students under the guidance of experienced educators while following the schedule of their cooperating teacher. At the demonstration teaching setting, candidates begin with orientation activities and gradually assume full teaching responsibilities, while completing key assessments and demonstrating readiness for professional practice. Candidates are supported and evaluated by their Walden University supervisor and cooperating teacher, while a faculty member facilitates online discussions and assesses coursework tied to the clinical experience. 

Note: This course has a Key Assessment. The Key Assessment directions and rubric can be found in Meditrek. Teacher candidates will complete the Key Assessment in Week 5 and submit the Key Assessment Assignment to Meditrek for scoring.
