Students in this course receive an in-depth examination of the methods and processes policy analysts use to assist policymakers in identifying problems, formulating and evaluating alternative solutions, and implementing preferred policies. The course includes cost benefit analysis; econometric analysis; policy modeling; the role of economic and political factors in public decision-making and policy formulation; marshaling resources and advocacy; and various applications to specific public policy topics. The course focuses on various quantitative and qualitative techniques used by policy analysts.
