The Mapuche-Williche poet published her poetry in Spanish. Although her parents and grandparents spoke the language of her people, Mapudungun, she never learned it as a protection against discrimination. Nonetheless, the poet collaborated with linguist Clara Antinao to provide translations to Mapudungun. Huinao’s work has been published in bilingual (Mapudungun-Spanish) and plurilingual (Mapudungun, Spanish, English) editions. Graciela implied that growing up in an environment that favored the oral tradition, tales, and other narratives, her work was infused with a voice that would appeal to people. The poem "Amulelafin tañi laku" emulates an ode to her grandfather Adolfo Huinao.
En los ojos de mi abuelo Williche

Tan solo al morir
