SBS 100 Spring 2020: Generating a Comparative Report in the Demographics tab

Research Guide for SBS 100 students

Generating a Comparative Report in the Demographics tab

1. Select the "Demographics" tab.

2. DemographicsNow has a few types of reports; Summary and Comparative are likely the most frequently used ones. This example will show a Comparative report, which separates the data of the 2 geographies I selected and compares them in a table.

Bonus tip: A Summary report is best used to present data on one geography. It will also combine multiple geographies' data.

3. DemographicsNow has 70+ report names to choose from. This drop-down menu contains US Census data, market research data, and a wide variety of other population characteristics to review and evaluate for use in your essays. I've selected the "Population Comparison Report", but you can see "Income Comparison Report" could also be useful.

4. Click "Run Report" to display the data.

Below is a sample of the report from this search. This report also examines educational attainment along with other additional categories of data.
