Module 2: Motor Skills, Early Learning, and Perceptual Abilities

Objective: Students will be able to discuss the important physical stages from when a child is born to five years.

Growth Stages 1: Infancy and Early Childhood
This lesson is the first of a two-part series aimed at introducing students to the different stages of physical growth and development in human beings from birth to 18 years of age.

Module 3: Brain Development

Objective: Students will be able to discuss brain development and the consequences of early life stress on the developing brain.

Early Adverse Experiences: What Does the Latest Brain Research Tell us?
This article provides an overview of brain development Starting with four basic principles, it goes on to explain why early experiences have such a powerful role in shaping developmental trajectories and draws attention to the deleterious impact of early adverse experiences on the developing brain.

Module 4: Moral Growth

Objective: Students will be able to discuss the importance of moral growth.

Moral Development
Morality is a system of beliefs about what is right and good compared to what is wrong or bad. Moral development refers to changes in moral beliefs as a person grows older and gains maturity.

Module 5: Influence of the Environment

Objective: Students will be able to review "this edition of Early Childhood Matters" that "brings together articles from India to the Netherlands and the United States, exploring issues ranging from playground design to the effects of noise and crowding, “public parenting” as the middle classes reclaim urban spaces, and ways to get children’s voices heard in urban design decisions." Students will be able to discuss the influence of environment on children in early childhood.
