24/7 Library Access

24/7 Badge Access to Library

UMass Chan Students and Residents are automatically granted Badge Access to the Library (24/7). UMass Chan Faculty, Staff, Fellows, Post-Docs and UMass Memorial Health Care clinicians and staff may request 24/7 Badge Access to the library using the Library Requests Form.

Due to UMass Chan security policies, the Lamar Soutter Library is not open to members of the public at this time, except by appointment. Please use Ask a Librarian to make an appointment.

Guidelines

  • Panic Buttons are available in baskets at the Library Service Point. If pressed, these will alert the police that someone in the Library needs help.
  • Do not let anyone into the Library whom you don't recognize as a UMass Chan employee or student. Campus Police can determine if they have 24/7 access and let them in if necessary.
  • Do not go behind the Library Service Point Desk and do not remove anything from the Library that has not been checked out to you.
  • Police officers will patrol the Library throughout the night. 

If there is an emergency in the Library call 911 immediately! The Campus Police will respond.
