After you've created your modules or folders, you're ready to start creating assignments.

  • Start by navigating to the folder or module where you would like the assignment
  • Go up to the gray menu bar and click on "Assessments"
  • Click on "Assignments"
  • Give a name to the assignment, this is the same name that appears in the Grade Center
  • You can type out a description of the assignment and/or directions
  • Under "Assignment Files" you can upload any needed data files such as starter documents, images, or forms
  • It can also be useful to attach any rubrics, directions, or Performance Assessment Tasks to the assignment for students to know exactly how the assignment will be graded
  • You can set a "Due Date", this date will show in the course calendar
  • Determine how many points the assignment will be worth
  • You can add a rubric below "Points Possible", this rubric will show later when you're grading the assignment and makes the process much more streamlined
  • You can customize how the assignment displays in the Grade Center but this isn't required
  • Finally, you can choose when this assignment is visible to students
  • Hit "Submit" and the assignment is ready to go

You can also create other types of assignments using the "Build Content" menu and custom columns (you can find information on how to do this under the Course Grade Center section.

You could link to a video in your Relay library, then create a custom column to give students points for watching it.  You could do a similar assignment with having required reading or activities.  You can be creative to keep your course varied.
