Creating a custom column is a way for you to enter in points or information that aren't already in Blackboard.  This could include points for in-class activities, watching videos, or reading assignments.

To create a column:

  • Go to the "Full Grade Center"
  • Up in the gray menu bar, click on "Create Column"
  • Enter the column name
    • You have the option to add a different name for just the Grade Center
  • Description of the columns or grade contained within it
  • Primary Display is how the column is shown; as total points, percentage, letter grade, complete/incomplete, or custom text
    • Primary Display is how the grade looks in both Grade Center and My Grades from the My Institution page
  • Secondary Display is how the column is shown in Grade Center
  • Set how many points are possible for the column
  • Due Date for the points
  • Choose your options and click "Submit"
