Objective: Students will be able to explain the hierarchy of the building blocks of language.

The Structure of Language
All languages have underlying structural rules that make meaningful communication possible.

Objective: Students will be able to describe the role for which each brain structure is involved in language production.

Human Language and the Brain
Several areas of the brain must function together in order for a person to develop, use, and understand language.

Objective: Students will be able to discuss at least two core knowledge theories of cognitive development.

Linguistic Relativity
Language and thought tend to influence one another in a dual, cyclical relationship.
